​The Story Project

To celebrate the launching of The Story Durham, Durham’s newest exhibition space and home for the historic collections of County Durham, Citizen Songwriters wrote a song with young people across the county. This was performed live at the opening The Story in Durham in June 2024.

Thank you very much to the young people from Weardale Together, Consett Heart and Greenhills Centre for contributing their stories whom we asked questions such as what belonging to County Durham meant to them, and what they identified as unique about the county.

The song was recorded with the generous support of Collingwood Studios at Collingwood College with singer songwriters Sam Slatcher and Alexandra Summers with the young people from Greenhills Centre.
